U14 league

Ballina travelled to Creggs on a bright calm day for their 4th league game and 2nd away game in a row in good form to face a Creggs side playing with an attacking style.
From the kick off the moysiders received the ball and attacked with their usual style and ran the ball back with Sam Callinan scoring under the posts, this was converted by David Feeney, who went on to give a masterclass in kicking.
Creggs were not phased by this and applied pressure from the kick off, turned the ball over and spun the ball out wide and scored in the corner, the Ballina boys knew then they were in a match. From the restart the game settled down into the normal ebb and flow of the game and with the journey down on the bus finally wearing off Ballina settling down to their task and following some Creggs pressure Ballina ran the ball from under their own posts utilising their passing and speed to score to the right of the posts and converted by Feeney. Once again from the kick off Creggs applied pressure tackling hard and running hard when they had the ball but after a turnover Ballina broke up the field and when the ball was passed to Ciaran Boland just outside the opposition 22 the supporters and bench were cheering loudly as he touched down for his first of the season this was converted.
Creggs were not crestfallen and worked down the field and following some hard running scored to the left of the posts this was converted leaving the score at 21-12.
Ballina needed to strike again before the break which they duly did scoring from deep with a fine break by Sam Callinan.
After the break Ballina attacked and tried to score but ran into touch in the Creggs 22 Jack Gawley poached the Creggs lineout and barged over the line touching down in the corner this was his first of the season. Ballina struck once more after some clever interplay with John Ginty scoring in the corner. This was Ballina's last score. Creggs got a consolation try at the end but the Ballina boys have now 4 wins from 4 and sit top of the league.Next up Galwegians Black at home in two weeks.
Top class performances from several Ballina players, Daragh Walsh, Liam Golden, Iarla Quinn and Paul Brennan.
