U14'S Give Aiden a fitting farewell

The U14's gave their coach, Aidan Cowan, a fitting farewell last Saturday. Aidan who has coached this team for the last 6 years is stepping down to coach the U10's. He witnessed the perfect match as his team ran in numerous tries. All his efforts have come to fruition with this team as they are now playing total rugby. Thanks Aidan. Ballina''s management approached this game with some nervousness as the opposition had beaten our team in the plate competition last season ,also fielding a side shorn of 4 first line players didn't do much for the head either.But this was laid to rest by a stunning display of heart and determination right across the team the replacement players shone out and players playing out of position led from the front it was a display of sterling defense and expansive running rugby from the start and was only slowed by fatigue in the second half as the majority of the players had a very busy week playing other games for their schools and other codes.From the kick offBballina applied the pressure and from a preset move off a scrum Alex Hennigan crashed though several tackles to score to the left of the posts.Harry West converted, both supporters and management were thrilled and when Harry West went over again within 5 minutes everyone got jittery they all knew they were witnessing something special, by half time the result was secured with three more tries .
