A unique weekend just gone by for Ballina RFC players who won Triple Crowns in both Men’s and Women’s rugby.
Ailish Quinn and Emily Foley featured for the Irish U21 women’s team who won the Triple Crown beating Wales 31-17 in Caerphilly. Emily scored a try in the second half. Niamh Briggs’ side made it three wins from three, adding victory against Wales to their defeats of Italy and England. Ailish scored a try against England when Ireland won 41-40 in Coventry. Well done to our ladies.
Meanwhile, Bradley Nealon was playing for the Irish Police Rugby team who won their Triple Crown on Wednesday defeating England 54-31 in Sale RFC. The team is composed of members of an Garda Síochána and the PSNI. The Ireland team had previously beaten Scotland in Garryowen and Wales in Pontypridd earlier this season. Bradley was to the forefront for the Irish team, his strong running style proving too much for the defensive lines of England, Scotland and Wales, scoring tries critical for the victories. Well done Bradley.
