THERE is a pall of sadness over Ballina Rugby Club.
Rory Quinn - a man with a great zest for life and people has passed away and the world is a much poorer place.
Our deep and sincere condolences to Maria and Jane, and all who loved Rory. His passing leaves a void, but his memory, his love of life and his indomitable spirit will never fade.
Rory was a rampaging back-row in the green of Ballina. He played with drive, determination and passion as befitting the family tradition, and that love of club never left him.
Rory was present on the sidelines, in the clubhouse and at club events and would even sometimes throw an eye over training sessions during his evening walks.
Rory, Maria and Jane supported the club in so many ways, whether it was making sure cups were handed back in pristine condition or the crucial unseen support of the every-day running of Ballina RFC.
In recent years, Rory watched with great pride as precious Irish caps and great Ballina moments came into the family circle. That pride reached new levels a few months ago when Rory's brother Daragh assumed the presidency of Ballina RFC. The unbroken circle of family and club was never-ending.
Sadly, Rory passed away peacefully in his lovely home by the Moy surrounded by his cherished family and friends. Predeceased by his father Séamus, his mother Brenda, and his brother Mícheál.
Rory was the beloved husband of Maria, and loving pop to Jane.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, daughter, Jim, his siblings Donnacha, Oisín, Sinéad, Daragh and Neassa, father-in-law Tony, mother-in-law Moya, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, his many friends, the girls in the shop and loyal customers. Rory will be missed by the innumerable people fortunate enough to have encountered him on the journey through life. Mayo he rest in peace.
