Our club and our worldwide community is in mourning tonight following the death of a truly special woman.
Gertrude Mannion (nee O'Grady) passed away today after a long and well-lived life. She left a treasure-trove of love, laughter and memories behind her and will never be forgotten by those blessed to have known her.
Gertrude was the mother of our President, Deirdre Whyte, the granny of Darragh and Ciara and the mother-in-law of Jimmy. She was truly and deeply loved and her passing has impacted countless people across the world today.
Gertrude, from Circular Road in Sligo and formerly of Markree in Collooney passed away peacefully at Sligo University Hospital. Gertrude, was the beloved wife of the late Gerry Mannion and dear mother of Aidan, Geraldine (Belfast), Dermot, Grainne, Deirdre Whyte (Ballina), Aengus, Ultan and Fergus; sister of Ita Gray and sister in law of Tony Gray and Anne (Née Mannion) and Liam Mac Mathúna.
Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Jessie O’Grady and her sisters; Mae Mullin, Josephine, Sheila Rhymer, Doreen Lang and Monica. Gertrude will be very sadly missed by all including her daughters in law, sons in law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her residence on Circular Road (F91VPN8) on Sunday from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral will arrive to The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception, Sligo, on Monday afternoon at 2:00pm for Requiem Mass. Burial will take place at St Nathy’s Cemetery Collooney.
