All at Ballina RFC wish to express our sincere sympathy to the extended Duffy family on the passing of a very special wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, neighbour and friend.
Eilish Duffy passed away on Monday and left a treasure-trove of memories, laughter and golden moments behind. The Duffy's are an integral part of Ballina RFC and we all mourn with them this week as they celebrate the life of a woman who will be forever recalled with great joy and fondness.
"We were devastated to hear that Eilish had passed away," Club Chairman Alan Rowe explained this morning.
"The Duffys and their extended family are part of the heartbeat of the club - always there in good times and bad - and Eilish was so loved by so many. The family are embedded in everything we do here, from coaching to playing and administration. Her beloved husband John was President of the club in 1986/87 and their son-in-law Marc Loftus has been President more recent times. All the Duffys are embedded in the club and synonymous with everything good in Ballina Rugby Club," he added.
Eilish was predeceased by her parents Anthony and Mary McHale (Bury Street) her baby son Patrick and her sister Mary.
Eilish was beloved wife of John and loving mother of Billy (Blacksod), Derrek (Quay Road) and Deirdre Loftus (Ballina). She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, sons, daughter, brothers Pat, John, Michael, Tony, Eamon, sisters Sr Eva, Dolores, Marion, beloved grandchildren, Jack, Emily, Ailbhe, Eoin, Clodagh, Richard, Harry, Chloe, Zara, in-laws, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and neighbours.
