Ballina Rugby Football Club is in mourning tonight after one of our own has joined the great front-eight in the sky. Leo Loftus was a dashing wing-forward for the club and contributed hugely to the progression and development of rugby in the town.
The Loftus family have had a long and proud association with Ballina RFC through the decades to the present day and we all want to express our sincere condolences on the passing of a man who left many golden memories behind him.
Leo passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. Deeply loved husband of Mary and devoted father of Lyndann, Garrett, Cliona, Rosemarie, Barbara, Marc and Kathryn Sinclair. Most special grandfather to his adored grandchildren Cian, Ailbhe, Darragh, Leona, Clodagh, Charles, Edward, Andrew, Annabel, Zac, Olympia, Freddie, Richard, Harry, Chloe and Zara, also missed by his extended family, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers Kevin and Dr Gerald. Leo will be also missed by his many clients and friends in the legal profession (62 years).
Leo will repose at McGowan's Funeral Home, Emmet St, Ballina, from 4pm to 6.30pm on Thursday 27th February.
