Ballina will finalise their team later this week for the final of the Connacht Junior Cup against Creggs at Galway Sportsground on Sunday.
Ballina's last victory in the Junior Cup was in 1977/78 season when they brought off the double, winning the league also.
Ballina have moulded a team of great character and discipline having had a great run in the Senior Cup. Beating Creggs in the first round, and this should be a great psychological boast to them.
The honours should be won and lost up front where Ballina with their heavy, mobile pack should dominate proceedings. Eugene Cawley, who missed the semi-final througn injury, is expected to return to the frontrow with J.P. Leonard returning the usual role of flank forward. Behind the scrum Tommy Cooke team-captain moves to scrum-half in place of the injured Norman Blakeney and if he can display all his old craft and swiftness, Creggs could be in a lot of trouble.
There's a question mark surrounding the out-half position with a number of players seeking a place, but on the day, the match will be won and host in the forwards with Ballina's back row of Tom Gilvarry, Walter Doherty and J.P. Leonard being Ballina's trump cards.
Referee for the day will be Joe Tighe Galway.
