'From Fear To Here'

A truly inspirational event is on the menu next Wednesday evening, August 21st, when The Summit Speakers come to our clubhouse Heffernan Park.
The event is billed as a 'Pre-Season Motivational' talk and a large crowd is expected to attend from near and far.

The Summit Speakers are headed by our own Michael Gallagher and he will be joined on stage by two Westport men, Darren Cawley and Paul Coghlan.

They're encouraging everyone from 14 to 90+ to attend and enjoy a very special evening in the company of friends.

"We'd like the whole club to turn out. It's a big night for us and we're really looking forward to bringing our product to Heffernan Park," Michael explained this evening.

"Our talks are extremely relevant in a sporting and non-sporting sense. I know people will enjoy the night as the three of us tell of our journey 'From Fear To Here.'

"Paul was an extremely fit man who fell sick and within hours was told he had only a 10% chance of living. The story of how he battled back from that is truly awe-inspiring. Darren was a top sportsperson at the age of 19 when he was diagnosed with kidney failure. He takes us on a journey of dialysis, transplant, a second kidney failure, nine further years on a waiting list, transplant, marriage and fatherhood.

"I have my own story to tell as well, which makes people laugh and cry and we all learn a little more about ourselves along the way. It promises to be a brilliant night but to say we're a little apprehensive is an understatement. We've spoken in many venues from the European Parliament to top business corporations, universities, schools and sports clubs, but there is something very special about coming to Ballina and we're hoping for a packed house," Michael added.

The evening gets underway at 7.15pm and everyone is invited. Don't forget to bring a friend.
