The aim is to reach the summit of the highest peak in each province in Ireland within 24 hours.

The three (Joe Moran, Morgan Foley & Richard Morrow) will be attempting this on Saturday 4th of May 2019. The weekend of the May Bank Holiday.

They will donate all money raised to a fund that is being used for the development of a sports field at Jesus & Mary Secondary School, Gortnor Abbey, Crossmolina, Co. Mayo.

The first of the Four Peaks is Mweelrea (814 metres),Connaught’s highest mountain.

"We will begin climbing this between 10 and 11pm on Friday May 3rd and we hope to summit shortly after midnight on the morning of Saturday May 4th." "It is a boggy climb through streams and rivers up to a rocky summit which is steep and dangerous in places."

Upon completing the decent of Mweelrea they will eat and change. Their support drivers will then begin the arduous drive to bring us to Kerry’s Carrauntoohil. This drive is 315km and will take almost 5 hours. "We hope to arrive there before 6am."

The second mountain of the Four Peaks Challenge is Carrauntoohil (1,038 metres). Munster and Ireland’s highest mountain will begin to test the amount of training in their legs.

"We will take the Devil’s Ladder route which is 12km return. It’s the most direct and shortest route and is very strenuous. We hope to have this completed in around 5 hours."

After repeating the eat & change routine they will commence the 4 hour 40-minute journey (322km) to the next climb, stoping in Wicklow and begin climbing at around 3:30pm.

The third of the Four Peaks Challenge, Lugnaquilla (925 metres) is situated in the Wicklow Mountains.

"We aim to have this climb completed and to be back in the support vehicles before 7pm. Depending on our levels of fatigue this may stretch out further. Once we have eaten and changed we will travel the 3 hour/220km journey to Newcastle in Co. Down."

The three will hope to arrive at the last mountain Slieve Donard (850 metres) before 10pm. Northern Ireland and Ulster’s highest mountain is the final climb of the challenge. In order to complete the 1-day challenge successfully they will have to complete the gradual climb to the summit before midnight.
